A couple of weeks ago we started a few of our Christmas traditions. Since Shawn and I have been married we have always made sugar cookies the night we decorated our tree. The last couple of years we've done this after Lauren went to bed for the night, but this year she was old enough to get in on some of the fun!
I think it is safe to say that the girl loved this tradition!!! She was too cute helping make the dough and sneaking a few bites when she thought no one was looking.
While our cookies were baking, Shawn and Lauren got started stringing the lights on the tree. Of course, she was a huge help! Ha!!!
After we got the lights strung, we started a brand new tradition that my friend Desire' told me about. Every year she and her husband get their kids one Christmas themed gift that they open the day after Thanksgiving. The idea is that this toy, book, video, game, etc. will be able to be enjoyed the whole Christmas season long. After Christmas it gets packed up to be brought out again the next year! Shawn and I loved the idea and the perfect gift for us this year was the Fisher Price Little People Nativity Scene! I had also picked up a couple of little Christmas books a while back so I wrapped those up too.
The nativity scene has been a HUGE hit and I absolutely love that Lauren and I can play as much as we want with it and not worry about it getting broken. It has been so much fun and such a great tool to talk about the true meaning of Christmas.
